This is my version and copy of an original painting by Jean-Leon Gerome, 1890, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. My favourite piece of art in the world.
Here is an impassioned story of the sculptor, Pygmalion, who falls in love with his creation, a marble statue. His prayers are answered when it comes to life, its transformation from marble to flesh taking place within his embrace.
