Rome - Via Appia (Print)

from $160.00

This drawing was completed on site over several hours, sitting on a rock, by this ancient Roman road known as Via Appia (Appian Way). It was one of the earliest and longest roads constructed by ancient Romans. Its construction began in 312 BC and by 244 BC, it connected Rome to Brindisi on the Adrdiatic coast, 563km in distance. It served as a route for military strategies. Today the route exiting Rome carries a provincial air. Stately mansions, umbrella pine trees and stonewalls with tumbling creepers line this black cobblestoned road. The setting for outdoor sketching could not have been more sublime.

Choose either a paper print or a canvas print. The price of the canvas print does not including shipping. Shipping cost will have to be calculated separately depending on the size of the canvas print. The canvas print is stretched over a wooden frame, which will influence shipping weight. There is no extra shipping cost for paper prints sent within Australia.
